Pakistan Poultry Climate Controller Case: LINO Touch SE+ RS485 Support Before Flock Placement

In August 2026, a poultry farm in Punjab, Pakistan, was preparing to place a new flock into its houses. The site team had a LINO Touch SE+ environmental controller and needed to connect it to the farm's existing management system before production began. This case documents the technical-support process around that connection.
| Project location | Punjab, Pakistan |
| Controller | LINO Touch SE+ |
| Integration | Read-only Modbus RTU monitoring over an RS485 link was requested for an existing farm-management system. |
| Support result | The controller model, requested monitoring scope and available support materials were clarified before flock placement. Third-party integration was not presented as completed. |

Any project-specific delivery or commissioning result is stated only where supported by the retained project record.
Project Background and Verified Scope
According to the project records, the farm operator in Punjab had the LINO Touch SE+ controller installed and was moving toward a new flock placement. The customer's integration request focused on reading environmental and operating data from the controller through RS485 and bringing those values into an existing farm management system. The farm wanted the connection to be monitoring-only, so the third-party system could collect data without writing commands back to the controller.
This is a familiar situation in overseas poultry automation projects. Equipment can arrive on time, yet integration information becomes the bottleneck. Two devices can both have an RS485 port and still fail to exchange useful data unless the engineer has the correct communication parameters, register information, data type and scaling method.
The customer therefore asked for several groups of information: the English operating manual, RS485 communication parameters, wiring and I/O terminal definitions, and guidance for adding temperature probes. They also requested the register information needed to map temperature, humidity, CO2, ammonia, negative pressure, ventilation stages and relay status into the third-party platform.
Why Read-Only Monitoring Was Requested
The customer intended to configure the external farm-management system for monitoring only, with no write commands included in the requested integration scope. RS485 describes the physical communication link; Modbus RTU describes the protocol used over that link.
That monitoring-only scope gave the integration a clear safety boundary. The third-party platform should collect data, but it should not be able to change controller settings through Modbus. This is also a sensible rule for many poultry farm RS485 integrations: if the purpose is monitoring, there is no need to open unnecessary write access.
Documentation and Wiring Information Available for the Project
The request was divided into four practical parts.
First was the LINO Touch SE+ English operating manual, which the farm staff needed for controller functions, menu navigation and daily operation.
Second was the RS485-Modbus documentation. The customer requested the register information and conversion factors for temperature, humidity, CO2, ammonia, negative pressure, ventilation stages and relay status, so that controller data could be mapped into the existing farm management platform.
Third came the electrical documents: wiring drawings, I/O terminal layout and connection definitions. On site, a clear terminal reference is often more useful than another general product brochure.
Fourth was temperature-probe expansion. The customer wanted confirmation of the appropriate sensor model and practical wiring guidance before adding probes.
The scope of documentation provided for a project is confirmed case by case, according to the controller model, firmware version, project requirements and confidentiality. The availability of each document should be confirmed before it is relied on for integration.
Temperature Sensor Expansion for LINO Touch SE+
Four temperature probes were discussed for the current project. The LINO Touch SE+ poultry controller with three RS485 interfaces supports up to seven compatible temperature inputs, subject to probe type, wiring and final configuration.
Sensor expansion has to match the controller input type, terminal allocation and probe model. For a layer house, temperature sensing is part of the wider environmental-control planning covered in our layer-house environmental control and sensor planning guide.

What Was Clarified Before Flock Placement
As soon as the request arrived, the technical team checked the LINO Touch SE+ model, reviewed the sensor setup described by the customer and reconfirmed the read-only requirement. Because the flock-placement date was close, the case was treated as urgent.
Several tasks moved in parallel. The technical team organized the operating documents, RS485-Modbus information, I/O definitions and temperature-sensor guidance. The account team kept the customer updated through WhatsApp, and the customer shared site photographs and video to help clarify the installation.
Before flock placement, the team clarified the controller model, the requested monitoring scope and the available support materials, and confirmed how the site team should reach us if they ran into trouble reading registers, checking communication parameters or tracing wiring.
For overseas technical support, sending a file is not the same as confirming it is usable. The work is finished only when the engineer at the other end can actually open and apply the information.
Commissioning Status and Remaining Actions
This case documents the technical-support process before flock placement. It does not claim that the third-party farm-management system was successfully commissioned unless a separate integration record confirms that result.
At the time of this case review, the project was still in the later-stage commissioning and technical-support phase. Remaining actions included data-reading tests, sensor expansion and further technical confirmation during operation. If a site engineer finds an issue, a screenshot, register address, wiring photo or communication setting usually gives the technical team enough information to start checking.
For routine commissioning and running checks, our poultry-house wiring, alarm and equipment inspection checklist provides a practical reference for the on-site work that surrounds a controller integration.
Where SE+ Fits Within the Five-Controller Range
Only LINO Touch SE+ is identified as the controller installed in this Pakistan project. The other models are included solely to explain product-selection boundaries. Selection should be based on I/O requirements, expansion needs and control scope, not on bird count or screen size alone.
| Project Requirement | Controller Family | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| This Pakistan project (fixed 15-relay, 3 RS485, up to 7 temperature inputs) | LINO Touch SE+ | Primary customer case — the installed controller |
| Smaller, simpler fixed-I/O projects | compact controller for smaller fixed-I/O projects | Small-project boundary |
| Broader standard house-control requirements | 10-inch controller for broader standard house-control requirements | Broader standard-control boundary |
| Modular, OEM or phased-expansion projects | modular controller for OEM and phased expansion | Modular/OEM boundary |
| Large multi-zone projects | high-capacity controller for large multi-zone projects | Large multi-zone boundary |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can LINO Touch SE+ connect to a third-party farm-management system?
LINO Touch SE+ provides RS485 communication interfaces, but compatibility with a specific third-party system depends on the firmware version, protocol, register permissions, wiring and the third-party configuration. This case documents a monitoring-only integration request, not a completed third-party integration.
Does the controller provide read-only RS485 Modbus access?
In this project, the customer requested a monitoring-only scope for the external system, meaning the third-party platform would collect data without writing commands. Whether specific data points can be read in a given project must be confirmed against the controller configuration and communication parameters.
Which technical documents are available for an SE+ project?
An operating manual is supplied with the equipment. Integration documents such as RS485 communication parameters, I/O wiring references and register information are provided electronically where required for the project, subject to the controller version, project scope and confidentiality policy.
How many temperature sensors can LINO Touch SE+ support?
LINO Touch SE+ supports up to seven temperature inputs as a product capability. The actual probe type, quantity, wiring and configuration for a given project must be confirmed during the technical review.
What information is needed before an RS485 integration review?
Provide the controller model and firmware version, current I/O list, temperature-sensor configuration, the third-party system, requested data points, communication protocol, read/write scope and available wiring diagrams. This lets the technical team review the integration boundary before commissioning.
